I love teaching science. I love learning new things and sharing with others.
I grew up in the countryside outside of Danbury, Texas. I learned by roaming
around the area as a child to love nature. Growing up as the eighth of eleven
children, there was always something exciting to do around my house. I still
love challenging experiences. I have had many wonderful, exciting, and
challenging experiences that have added to my expertise that I can share with
my students. I have been a part of the crew of the barque, Elyssa, in
Galveston and had the opportunity to sail on her several times. I have been a
crew member for a hot air balloon team out of Austin, Texas and have had the
opportunity to fly with them at events like Ballunar Liftoff Festival at NASA.
I was able to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon on two separate
occasions. I was able to go to the Great Salt Plains Lake State Park in
Okalahoma and dig for selenite crystals. I have been to Alaska where I saw
the Iditerod Trail, saw the northern lights in the sky, met a real reindeer
named Rudolf, and made snow angels in April. I have also had the opportunity
to visit Hawaii with all its beauty. I have been to California where I hiked
along the track of the San Andreas fault line and where I saw wonderful
examples of grafting techniques that enabled straight tree trunks became
complex and compound designs in shapes like hearts, lightning bolts, and
basket weaves. Of all the experiences I have had, none can compare with the
wonderful, exciting, and challenging experiences I have had as a science
teacher at St. Francis de Sales School where I not only get to teach 8th grade
IPC science classes but also get the opportunity to design and teach weekly
labs for all students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. I love my job!
We'll have our hands on science! Students should come to class ready to
think, problem-solve, and learn.
