I have now completed my eleventh year at St Francis. I began as the homeroom teacher
for 7A and taught both the seventh and sixth math classes. Three years ago I
changed to part time to teach the eighth grade math and Algebra 1 classes. And now
I am back full time again teaching the seventh and eighth math classes!
I earned a math degree with an education minor from the University of Texas at
Austin. During summers I worked for NASA at Ellington Air Force on the
Apollo and Gemini projects. We actually tested rocket models inside the
hangars. My special project teamed me with two students from Rice University.
We gathered data on various gases used in experimental stages on the rocket
thrusters and wrote a book on jet propellants.
Upon graduation I accepted a job with Shell Oil Company in the geophysics
department. I developed software used in interpreting data gathered from
seismic crews both onshore and offshore. After 13 years with Shell my
husband and I started our own business which lasted until he passed away.
While a student at UT I often tutored other students in their math courses
and completed my student teaching at Travis High School in Austin. I knew
I still wanted to teach so after our two sons were in school I ventured back
into the classroom as a subtitute teacher, which, of course, quickly became
full time. I have now been in the classroom for over two decades, having
taught at the high school level at both Episcopal High School and the Hebrew
Academy before coming to Saint Francis. I truly love what I do and thank God
for the privilege of teaching in the community of Saint Francis.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
PROCEDURES AND GRADING
MRS. STREETMAN
Each student is required to keep a notebook, or a section in a notebook, for
this class. This notebook
must contain a) this sheet of class requirements, signed by the student and
parent, b) class notes, c)
homework, d) quizzes, and e) tests.
Homework will be assigned on most all class days. It will be due the
following day unless otherwise
specified. All assignments must be correctly headed, done in pencil and be
neat and legible.
Assignments written in anything other than pencil will have to be redone
before they can be
accepted.
All number lines must be drawn with a straightedge. Graph paper must be used
for doing graphs.
Major tests will be given at the end of each chapter of material and will be
announced at least two
days in advance. Quizzes will be given at irregular intervals and consist of
material from class notes
and problems similar to those given for homework. Correct spelling of
mathematical words,
phrases, and terms is most important and graded accordingly.
It is the responsibility of the student to schedule make-up tests. If a
student scores less than 70%
on a chapter test, he or she may be eligible for a retest at the discretion
of the teacher.
Individual grades will be given as percentages. Class participation and
homework are averaged
together to form a daily work average. Quizzes are averaged into a quiz
average, and tests are
averaged into a test average. These three are combined into a total average
according to the
following:
Daily Work 25% of Total Average
Quiz Average 25% of Total Average
Test Average 50% of Total Average
I wish you much success in math. I will always do my part to help you in any
way I can.
