Everyone: Today will complete our first week of practice for the SFDS Baseball Team. We have had a GREAT week and have improved everyday with the help of our excellent coaching staff; thank you Austin, Tony, and Jeremy! I just wanted to communicate to everyone a few things going into next week. 1) All the boys should have received there practice jersey and practice/game baseball hat. Each of them needs to wear them as much as possible to practices, and the hat is part of their GAME uniform as well, so it should always be with them. The boys need to wear a cup everyday they are on the field. One more thing about the practice jersey: By all means wash it, but don't put it in the dryer - It will SHRINK. 2) Monday is a holiday, although we have school. I know some of you are going out of town; so I though this would be appropriate: The coaches are available Monday, so if More than 5 players/parents want to practice we will have practice; If not, we will pick it up on Tuesday - same time and place. 3) Our first game is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23, 2011 against True Cross Catholic. True Cross Catholic MAY forfeit. I am working on us scrimmaging a JV team from another Catholic school - Details to be worked out by Tuesday. Stay tuned. The location of our first two games ( Feb 23rd and 28th ) will be held at Anderson Field, both at 4:30 pm so we need to be there by 4:00 pm at the latest. The field is located at the corner of Chimney Rock and Richmond on Beverly Hill street. 4) We need to get a snack rotation going; so if one of the parents is interested in organizing this, I would be very thankful. 5) Over the weekend, Dads and Moms, throw the baseball around with your boys. Most of you have attended at least some of the practices, so you know the routine. The more they practice form and technique, the better they will become, AND the less likely they will experience INJURY. If you have not already done so, On Tuesday, February 22, I would like to collect the baseball fee, which will be $150.00 made out to SFDS Booster Club. It pays for our coaches, game field, practice equipment, practice and game jerseys/hats, bus transportation when we will need it, to home and away games, etc. I want to thank all of you for showing such enthusiastic support for the team.
