Dear Parents,

 This week we are reading the story,Abuela. 

The genre forthis storyis about fantasy.

Question of the week:What kind of adventures can you have in the city?
Our “Amazing Words” are:
abuela, adventure, flock, city, airport, harbor

Please use these words in sentences with your children as we will be doing the same. This week’s lessons are online at Pearson Reading Street, Unit 4 week 6.

 This week the children’s comprehension skill is setting, where and when the story is happening. When reading to your child for BOOK IT!, please use this time to review this in the stories.All students are to read or be read to for at least 30 minutes every night.

 The students will continue working on forming telling sentences. All students must be using an upper case letter to begin their sentences and an ending mark. Please continue to practice writing sentences at home using our “popcorn words.”The students should be able to use the words I and me in sentences.

We will continue recognizing groups of words that begin with the same spoken initial sound. We will be reviewing the letterEethis week.

 How CanParentsHelp At Home?

This week we are learning the sound /e/ as in the word “elephant.” Please have your child practice this letter and sound. Ask him or her to tell you the names of things that start with the /e/ sound.

Write _ell on a paper. Have your child add a letter to make as many rhyming words as he or she can. Continue with _ed and _en.

Students that are using the Pearson online site are able to read fluently know the comprehension skill, letter sounds and are learning our grammar skills easily.

This is your child’s homework for the week:

MONDAY:Handwritingpractice forming letters Ee. Students must begin and end the letters correctly. Letter formation is an important skill for your child to master in kindergarten.


ReadingWrite2 sentences using any of this week’s amazing words and illustrate. The amazing words are:
 abuela, adventure, flock, city, airport, & harbor. Begin each sentence with a capital letter and end the sentences with a punctuation mark. Write in your best handwriting.

TUESDAY:Mathworksheet pg. 5 7-58

 Handwritingform letters Ee according to directions. Please check your child’s pencil grip & letter formations.
