I have taught every level of High School English in a span of 2 1/2 years in
Shreveport, Louisiana at Captain Shreve High School. I directed the Drama
Club, taught the Gifted and Talented, and obtained Library Certification while
I was there. I have also worked at Barnes and Noble since I graduated high
school and at Little Walnut Creek, an Austin Public Library.
Since working at Star for the past 2 years, I have gotten my Texas
Certification and taught 9th and 10th grade English as well as Drama.
I want my students to be exposed to a wide variety of literature from all over
the world. To do this, we will read many different literary works from many
different time periods, participate in class discussion on a daily basis, and
have tests that evaluate our understanding of the written word.
I also want my students to be able write, speak and understand the English
Language competently. For this reason, we will have research projects
throughout the year that expose us to others' perspectives of the literature
we read for class as well as grammar and vocabulary used in an applied setting.
