Hi and welcome to the class website!
There have been some changes to the organization of the class.
First, each week for the remainder of the year you will have a "scroll" (to borrow Mr. B's term) to
complete by the beginning of the following week. Scrolls will be assigned on Monday and will be due
the following Monday at the BEGINNING of class. I'll post them on the website under "Handouts," in
case you're absent when they're handed out. They'll be worth 10% of your 6 weeks grade.
As a consequence of the addition of weekly scrolls, the weighting of your other grades will change.
Participation will now count for only 10% of your grade instead of 15%, and the 6-weeks project,
which was worth 5% of your grade before, will now count as extra credit. The maximum points
obtainable for a 6-weeks project is 5 added to your final 6-weeks grade. Thus if your 6-weeks average
is an 85, and you do a perfect 6-weeks project, your final 6-weeks grade will be a 90.
Third, on homework and scrolls I will no longer give partial credit. But don't worry, I've got plenty of
things in mind to help keep your grades up high!
Fourth, homework assignments that are not headed properly and organized properly in your binder will
receive an automatic 10 points off. The first step towards success is getting organized!
Finally, some interesting articles courtesy of www.sciencenews.org and the
Mathematical Association of America. These might be useful for those of you wanting to do a 6-
weeks project.

Check 'em out. There's even one on the Simpsons.
I'll post other interesting links under the "links" section.
I hope this helps. Please notice the email icon at the top of the main page, and don't hesitate to email
me if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to a terrific second semester!
