What will students learn in Principles of Health Science?
This course is designed to help the student develop health care
specific knowledge and skills in effective communications,
ethical and legal responsibilities, patient care, safety, first
aid, and CPR. This course prepares the student for transition to
clinical or work based experience in health care.
What will students learn in Health Science?
This course is designed to provide for the development of multi-
occupational knowledge and skills related to a wide variety of
health careers. Students will have hands-on experiences for
continued knowledge and skill develpment. The course may be
taught by different methodologies, such as pre-employment
laboratory, clinical rotation, or cooperative education.
What will students learn in Health Science Practicum?
This course in an occupationally specific course designed to
provide knowledge and skills for certification or licensure in an
allied health areer. Students develop advanced clinical skills
necessary for employment in the health care industry. The courses
may be taught by different methods such as a pre-employment
laboratory, cooperative edcation, or clinical internship.
Students must obtain a job or internship in the Heath Care field.
What are the prerequisites for Medical Terminology?
It is required to for students to have successfully completed
Principles of Health Science in order to take Medical Terminology.
What are the prerequisites for Health Science?
It is required that students have taken Principles of Health
Science and Medical Terminology in order to apply for Health
Science. It is an application and process for students wanting to
enroll in Health Science. Classroom sizes are limited due to
clinical rotation requirements.
What are the prerequisites for Health Science Practicum?
It is required that students have taken Principles of Health
Science, Medical Terminology, and Health Science in order to
apply for Practicum of Health Science. Students will be required
to complete an application and interview process.
When will students start the application process for Health Science?
During the second semester and must be on schedule to have
Principles of Health Science and Medical Terminology completed by
the end of that semester. Students interested in Health Science
must complete thoroughly the application. It is also important
that the additional items requested in the packet be copied and
turned in by the deadline. Students will receive the Health
Science application packets during the beginning of Spring
Semester. Health Science is competitive and has a limited number
of spots. It is important you understand that attendance,
tardies, grades and behavior (in all classes) will be considered
during the process of selecting Health Science students.
