I am a Registered Nurse with a Bachelors degree in Nursing and Psychology. I
also have my Certification in Rehabilitation Nursing. I am active with
the ARN (Association of Rehabilitation Nurses). I am also a member of THOA
(Texas Health Occupations Association). THOA is a professional leadership
organization for Health Science Technology Education (HSTE) teachers. This
will be the beginning of my 6th school year to teach at Stony Point High
School!! Go Tigers!
I graduated from Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX in 1989 with my
Associate of Science in Nursing. I then worked and continued on to earn my
Bachelor of Science in both Nursing (Regents College) and Psychology
(University of Maryland). I was the first person from my family to receive a
college education. I worked my way through college using various resources:
baby sitting, campus work-study program, some scholarship, a grant and my
student loan. I truly value education and know each student can succeed in
reaching their goals for success despite various challenges.
My experiences include school nursing, renal diabetic nursing,
rehabilitation nursing, and CPR instruction. I have worked with various
medical conditions over the last 15 years including stroke, orthopedics,
spinal cord injury, head injury, neurological disorders, geriatrics,
diabetes, and renal issues(peritoneal dialysis).
I am married and a mother of 3 children (my oldest is in college, one in
middle school and my youngest in elementary). I honestly believe that each
and every individual deserves to be treated with respect. I know each student
has much to offer in the growth and learning that happens in my classroom. I
look forward to a successful year!
Educate students regarding the many aspects of healthcare. Provide
students assistance in gaining skills and knowledge that will be needed to
enter the work force or college. Empower every student, every day to the
fullest of their potential and beyond. Offer students opportunity to explore
health related issues and to develop empathy for how these issues affect
others.
