As discussed in class, homework during the Thanksgiving break is to complete
pages 1, 6 and 7 on the Literary Terms (yellow handout). For clarity's sake,
page 1 is the front of the first page (the back is page 2, etc). If you have
lost the packet, go to Handouts (second to last document) and print out a new
one. Write a definition and an example. Use a dictionary, dictionary.com, or
Google the terms, it'll take you to academic pages that include definitions
and examples; actually, as much as I dislike and mistrust Wikidepia, for
simple definitions such as these, it's quite alright.

Review notes on diction, syntax, tone, imagery, thesis statement in
preparation for the Timed Write next class. Complete any missing work for

chapter but 1 paragraph)for 10/23 (B) and 10/26 (A). Remember that pop quizzes
may still be given. Read closely.

Extra Credit assignment offered: it is due on Friday 30th and will not be
accepted at any later date. If you want extra credit, turn it in on time. I
will not assign or accept extra credit 2 days before report cards are due
because you realize at the last minute that you need it to pass the class.

Revise your Gatsby passage structured paragraph if not completed in class. See
the Model and Tips under Handouts. Complete any missing work (Malcolm X
