My name is Mark Lyons. I am pleased to be at Teravista Elementary School.
This will be my fourth year at Teravista. It spent the previous five years at
Forest Creek Elementary School in Round Rock as the school's Literacy
Specialist and Reading Recovery teacher. I have had previous experience
teaching first grade at Union Hill and Anderson Mill Elementary Schools in
the Round Rock ISD. Prior to that I spent fourteen years teaching in the
Manor ISD as a third grade teacher, a fourth grade teacher and a Reading
Recovery teacher. Even before that I was a teacher in two different parochial
schools. One is located in Austin, Our Savior Lutheran School. I was a
fourth, fifth, and sixth grade teacher as well as principal. I started my
teaching career in Irving, Texas at Good Shepherd Lutheran School as a second
and third grade teacher. I taught those grades for nine years.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in education in 1976 from Concordia
Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois. I have a Masters Degree in
Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Texas at Austin. I am a
trained Wilson Reading Program and Reading Recovery teacher.
