Can I volunteer in class or at school?

Yes! We need volunteers nearly everyday. We need volunteers in the PRO (Parent Resource Center), occassionally in the classroom, and even from home. We need
volunteers for things like help stuffing folders, field trips,
class parties, and daily workstations. You can take materials
home to be sorted, stapled, and colored, etc. The PRO center and PTA are always in need of an
extra hand. Please e-mail me if you would like to volunteer your
time. Any help is greatly appreciated!

What should I do if my child will be going home a different way?

Since I rarely answer my phone or check my phone messages
during the school day, the best way to let me know your child
will be going home a different way is with a short note sent with
your child to school or by e-mail. Please make sure that I
confirm via email. You may also
call the front office at 704-0500 and they will give me the
information.

How can I pay for my child's luinch?

The best and most efficient way to pay for your child's lunch is
to send a check. Every child has an account number
and the money is automatically put into your child's account.
Just remember to put your child's account number on the check.
You may also go online to deposit money in your child's account.

When it is my child's birthday, can I bring something for the class?

Yes, you are welcome to bring in cupcakes or any treat you would
like. If you do bring a special birthday treat for your child to
share with the class please remember to: 1)let me know
beforehand, 2)make sure there is
at least 1 treat for everyone.

What are some ways to help my Second Grader with Math?

Helping your child with math at home can be fun and easy. First,
get them to realize the mportance of math in our world around
us. Help them realize that we deal with math everyday and that
it is EVERYWHERE! Practice telling time to the hour and half
hour using an analog clock, identifying and writing numbers 0 to
100, reviewing 2D (square, triangle, rectangle, circle, oval,
diamond) and 3D shapes (cone, cylinder, sphere, rectangular
prism, triangular prism, pyramid), identifying smallest and
largest, greater than and less than, naming coins and its value,
identifying place value, reading a thermometer, identifying
before and after, and measuring using non-standard materials.

How can I help my child be a more fluent reader?

Please read with your child daily. Let your child become
independent, that does mean that making some mistakes here and
there is okay. We all learn from our errors. =) Your child
should be independently reading for 15-20 minutes per night. Of
course, reading to your child is still a wonderful, meaningful,
and memorable experience.
