A little about me...

Welcome to Second Grade at Union Hill Elementary! I would like to
take this time to introduce myself, and hopefully very soon I will get to
know each one of you and your wonderful children.

I am originally from Connecticut and have very strong family ties. I
have my Bachelor's degree in Business Management and my Masters in Education.
I have worked in the corporate sector for a number of years before pursuing
my dream of becoming a teacher.

I have been with Round Rock ISD since 1998 in a variety of positions.
I became a Second Grade teacher in 2000 and love it! I have my TAG (talented
and gifted) and ESL (English as a Second Language) certification. In
addition, I have my National Teaching Certification from the National Board
for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). With this, I am certified to
teach anywhere in the United States. It is an accomplishment I am very proud
of. Currently I am the only teacher at Union Hill to hold this honor. I have
been with Union Hill since it opened, before that I taught at Forest Creek
Elementary.

Several years ago I was part of a team of Union Hill teachers who won
a grant from the RRISD Education Foundation of Excellence in Teaching. That
money helped purchase additional leveled reading books for Union Hill
students. These past few years, I was able to get an additional grant from
Wal-Mart for science supplies which helped our school achieve its exemplary
status. I am a life long learner and will continue to reach my set goals and
dreams.

I have three awesome children. I am very proud of my children and
their choices in life and do what ever I can to support their dreams and help
them reach their goals.

Parents are the most important people in their child's life. You and
I working together will ensure your child's success in the classroom. Every
minute can be a learning experience. I have high expectations that students
are here ON TIME everyday! I will need your support in the areas of
academics, homework, and discipline. In return, you can expect me to share my
years of experience and strategies to help your child reach their fullest
potential. With school and home working together, I am confident we will have
a successful year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or
concerns. I always have an open door policy!

My classroom telephone number is 424-8755. Our planning time is from
8:00 - 8:50 and if you leave a message I will try to return your call during
that time or after school. If it is an emergency and you need to reach me,
please call the office (424-8700) and they will contact me. Please send in a
note if there is a change in your child’s transportation or if you would just
like to meet to talk about your child. The best way to reach me is through
email (sandra_aguais@roundrockisd.org).

Again, welcome to Second Grade and I look forward to working with
you! It’s going to be a fantastic year!

				Sincerely,

				Mrs. Sandra Aguais

Mission For The Class

As curious, Second Grade learners, we will grow in knowledge and skills for
each of our academic subject by working as a team, following rules and
directions, being good listeners, being truthful, responsible and respectful.
We will try our best, believe in ourselves and have fun while learning.
