Don't forget about the Turkey Trot tomorrow (Tuesday)from 9:50-10:40. You
can meet us outside our room or by the gym. It will be a one mile walk/run.

It has been a busy month. The students are making wonderful progress and
they are learning so much. This week we have talked about me, myself and my
family, counting and numbers. I have really enjoyed listening to the
students talk about their favorites page. Next week we are having a
Scholastic Book Fair in the Union Hill Library. It is Monday-Friday. Be
sure and check it out.

Just a reminder that Wednesday, September 14, 2011 is an early release day.
Your child will be getting out of school at 12:45 on Wednesday. Hope you all
have a wonderful week.

We are off to a wonderful start to the new school year. All of you children
are so eager to learn. I am really enjoying have all of them in class.
We are starting to learn letters and sounds this week. We learned the letter
Ss yesterday and today we learned the letter Mm. When your child gets home
review the letters and sounds with them and see if they can come up with
words that start with that certain letter. We will learn D on Wednesday and A
on Thursday. Also practice writing the letters and your childs name with
them. Each week we will learn 4 letters and sounds. On Friday our
handwriting booklet will come home and you will be able to see how well your
child wrote the letters.
We started bringing our daily folders home on Monday. These folders will
have your child's behavior for the day and it is also a way for us to
communicate. Please look at the folder and inital on the appropriate day and
send it back to school. Your child will bring this to and from school every
day.
Please send a water bottle with you child to school. They are allowed to
keep it at their table and take it out to recess.
We will be doing a community walk tomorrow (Wednesday) evening from 5:30-
7:30. I am sending a note home for you to fill out and return tomorrow. I
look forward to seeing everyong tomorrow night.

We will have a 30 minute nap the first part of the year. Please put a towel
in your child's backpack with their name on it. This towel will stay in
their backpack and come home everyday. Please no pillows or stuffed
animals.
They may also bring a water bottle which stays at their table. Please make
sure that the water bottle has a sports top so we can have little spills as
possible.
Please keep an extra change of clothes in a ziplock bag with their name on it
and this will stay in their backpack. Just in case of accidents or spills.
The tardy bell rings at 7:45 so please try your best to get your child
here on time.
