Hola! Hola! I'm Estella Garza. I'm from Houston, Texas. I grew up and have
lived in Houston all my life. I graduated from the University of Houston (GO
COOGS!) with a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a
bachelor of Art in History. My original plan was to teach Social Studies
middle school. While I was in school I worked for Houston ISD, where I taught
a 3rd Grade Bilingual Class. Being a bilingual person myself, it hadn't
really occurred to me to teach bilingual much less elementary, but being in
that classroom was a blast! I absolutely loved being at an elementary school
and most importantly being in a classroom with bilingual students. I did
recieve my teaching certificate in secondary education-social studies but I
also recieved my certificates in elementary bilingual education as well as
elementary ESL. Maybe one day I will teach middle schoolers but for now my
passion are with the bilingual students. I moved here to Austin 3 years
ago;and have been part of the Union Hill family ever since. Teaching is
my passion. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
