Rules and PoliciesRules R Respect is shown to all. (This includes people, animals, books, materials, and equipment.) E Everyone walks. S Soft voices and appropriate language are used. P People talk only when appropriate. No distracting noises. E Everyone keeps hands, feet, objects, and gestures to themselves. C Classes begin on time with all materials/homework needed. T Teachers’ directions are followed the first time. Respect Conduct System This system reinforces appropriate behavior in a positive manner. Students are rewarded for following the RESPECT rules, which are basic good manners. They are treated as “employees” who have certain job responsibilities. ***See attached 4 Wolves, Inc. contract of employment. This contract needs to be signed by student and parent/guardian and returned. Grade Book Policy Each subject will be averaged over a 9-week period. The average will be a combination of class work (50%), tests (40%), and homework (10%). Parents will have access to their student’s grades through the Home Access Center. Homework Folder Everyday your child will bring home his/her homework folder. This folder contains a homework sheet with the assignments for the week. The homework folder must be brought to school daily. Homework Policy Students are expected to turn in their homework on Fridays when they arrive in the classroom. Students who consistently turn in their homework each week will be recognized with a positive reward. Lunch/Library Card Each student is issued a plastic card to be used for the library check out as well as lunch purposes. It is important that the card remain at school. If a card is lost there is a fee for replacement. Late Work Policy Only work turned in on time will receive full credit. If an assignment is one day late, it will receive a maximum grade of 90%. Two days late will receive a maximum grade of 80% and three days will receive a maximum grade of 70%. Following three days, students will not receive credit for late work and it will be reflected as a zero in the grade book. If a student is absent they will have one day for each day out to complete their assignments. Thursday Folders Each Thursday, your child will take home his/her Thursday Folder. It will contain assignments, school newsletters, and other information. Please remove, read, and review all papers in the folder. Many of the notes pertain to upcoming activities involving Union Hill and your child. Please sign and send back anything necessary. The Thursday Folder must be returned on Fridays. Absences If your child is absent from school, please send a note of explanation and call the office the day they are absent. All homework/class assignments must be made up allowing one day for each day missed. It is important that your child have very little absences. We do a lot of activities that are difficult to make-up. State law limits the amount of absences children can have. Snacks Your child may bring a snack to school to have at recess. We would like you child to make snack choices that are nutritious. Some snack ideas: snack crackers, cheese, raisins, fruit, snack mix, granola/fruit bars, pretzels, and dry cereal. Your child is also allowed to bring a water bottle to drink throughout the day. |
