Hi Everyone!
* During learning stations I have begun guided reading with each student.
The students are each reading their book with me and will bring it home so
they can then read it to you. In addition to reading their stories, we are
also talking about the pictures, identifying high frequency words, discussing
characters and the beginning/middle/end of each story. Students bring these
books home in a baggie that is in their green daily folder. When your child
is not reading their book, please keep their book in their backpack .If
students do not bring their books back to class, they will not be able to
bring a new book home when I meet again with their group.
* When reading with your child at home, please practice pointing out high
frequency words such as (is, a, I, the, my and Me..) in the books your read.
You can also discuss the cahracteers in the story and what happened at the
the beginning/middle/end of the story.
* Please make sure your child has a change of clothe in their backpack
everyday.
* Our libray storytime is on Wednesday from 8:45-9:15 am. Students will now
be allowed to check out a new book each day if they choose to. When your
child is ready to check out a new book, please send it back in their backpack
and they will be sent to the library during learning stations so they can
check out a new book.
* I am beginning to use our class treasure box on a consistant basis and it
is getting empty. If you could donate small items such as (happy meal toys,
stickers, cars, etc.) I would greatly appreciate it.
