My name is Cynthia Nutt and I am looking forward to working with you and
your children this year. I have three children a son age 31, daughter age
24, and a son age 19. My eldest son is hearing impaired and was born deaf.
He also has three children, which make me a grandmother. My youngest has
learning disabilities as well. My daughter has been married for five
years and lives in Lindale. They have a 16 month old baby, "Gracey"
My professional experience concerning working with special needs children is
as follows: a parent, houseparent at Kiwanis Children’s Place,
paraprofessional aide for Life Skills Class at Whitehouse
High School for three years, volunteer at the ARK working with the Sib
Shops, and currently in my fith year of teaching Special Education. I
graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler with honors (Summa Cum Laude)
and finish up my Masters degree this past summer. I have met all state
certification requirements for teaching Early Childhood - 4th grade in
general education and all grade levels in special education. I feel that it
is a great blessing for me to have the opportunity to work with you and your
children.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me anytime.
Sincerely, Cynthia Nutt
My mission for our class is to meet the student’s needs in an appropriate
and individual bases determined by each of their unique qualities. I intend
that together we will develop your children’s life-long skills that they
need to be confident and motivated to succeed in the classroom as well as in
the life of their families and communities. I will do my best to teach in
such a way as to have each student live up to their full potential. I hope
to do this by building their self-esteem, and by doing so helping them to
become more self-motivated to meet their personal goals for success. To
accomplish this along with classroom academics our Community Based
Instruction (CBI) will provide personal enrichment opportunities for
students through exposure to diverse cultural experiences, programs, and
events in our own community. CBI is intended to compliment the educational
process and contribute to a well-rounded education so that students may
develop physically, socially, spiritually, intellectually, and morally.
