November 14, 2011-
A
reminder that academic fair projects are due next Tuesday, November 22nd.
If
your child is going to be absent the day it is due, please have them turn it
in before they leave. I
know that the Thanksgiving Holiday is a time for some well deserved rest and I
would like for everyone to be able to enjoy that time instead of working on
the project.
This
week we are taking our Algebra benchmark. It will test our students on the
Algebra topics we have learned so far. Please
encourage your child to do the best that they can.
The
benchmark will not be taken for a grade; however, the grade will be posted in
the gradebook for you to see. At
the end of the week, we will be putting together an individualized packet with
the 5 lowest TEKS for students to work on.
This
will be counted as a grade along with the parent signature on the letter
attached. As
an incentive, at the end of the 6 weeks, students who perform at the
“Advanced” level of 90 or above, will have an opportunity to replace a test
grade from this 6 weeks with their benchmark grade.
Also,
it’s that time of year that we remember to be thankful for what we have and I
am very thankful for my students and their supportive parents. I
hope your holidays are restful and full of family.
October 9, 2011- It's been a wild ride so far!! It's hard to believe that the
2nd 6 weeks began last week. Please encourage your student to come to
tutorials if they don't understand something. It's easier to teach/learn one
topic rather than several before a test or even after a test when they have to
be reassessed. The next several weeks are going to be busy and full of
learning. Just a reminder that this 6 weeks is actually only five
weeks. Time flies when you are having fun!
