Deadline for my child to turn in his/her physical for athletics?
If your child plans to tryout/participate in a particular sport,
they must have their physical turned into a coach BEFORE the tryout
dates. Your child cannot tryout or participate without a physical
from a doctor. May 16th physicals will be given at RRHS. Stay
tuned for more information.
What is the proper procedure for my child if she cannot participate?
Please send a note to inform the coach of your child's limitations.
If your child cannot participate in activities for longer than 3
days, a doctor's note is required.
What if my child has forgotten their clothes?
In p.e., the child loses 3 points per day they are not dressed
out. In athletics, the athlete loses 5 points per day they are not
dressed out. In both p.e. and athletics, your child is still
expected to participate in activities. If loaner clothes are
available, a coach will provide those.
Where can I get a physical form?
1) The front office.
2) A coach
3) www.roundrockisd.org - departments - athletics - sports

What is the required paperwork needed for my daughter's participation?
In order to participate in the athletic program, we must have the
following forms, with your signature, on file:
Physical Examination-New Guidelines
Emergency Information Card
Medical History Questionnaire
Medical Consent (3 signatures)
UIL Acknowledgment
Insurance Waiver
Lady Wildcat Athletic Program Rules and Regulations letter
acknowledgment
Physical Required
All boys and girls who are registered in the athletics classes for
the current school year will need to have a physical and other
paperwork completed and on file with the coaches prior to the
issuing of equipment and trying out for athletic teams. Watch for
announcements on deadlines for the current school year. Physical
forms may be obtained from either the coaches offices or
downloaded from the RRISD web site.
When are volleyball/basketball tryouts?
Volleyball tryouts will be the first week of school with the final
cut on the first Saturday after school begins. Basketball Tryouts
are held within 2-3 days after the conclusion of volleyball
season. Everyone must have a physical to try out for basketball.
Tryouts are held over a 2-3 day period during the athletic period
and before/after school. If you are not in the athletic class you
will tryout either before or after school, NOT during the period.
Players will be evaluated on ball handling, shooting, passing,
defense, court sense, coachability, and hustle. Grades
will also play a part in the decision making process. Each grade
level will keep between 20-25 players. Those players will be
divided into Green and Gold teams at a later date.
What are the eligibility requirements for athletes?
Eligibility Requirements
To remain eligible to participate on the team, your daughter must
meet the following eligibility requirements:
Your daughter must pass every class each six weeks in order to be
eligible to participate in try-outs and in games before or after
school.
If your daughter has made the team and she fails a class, she will
still practice with the team but will be unable to compete in or
attend the games.
At the end of three weeks if she has raised her failing grade and
is still passing her other courses, she may compete again.
Your daughter's conduct and citizenship grade in her academic
classes is also important. Behavior reports will be completed by
classroom teachers weekly, and any athlete receiving a "U" will be
benched for one game.
What are the expectations for my daughter?
General Expectations
Your daughter will be expected to dress in her athletic clothes
for class every day and to participate to the best of her ability.
Read more about our dress code for Girls Athletics.
If she cannot participate, we ask that you write a note for every
THREE days she is unable to participate.
She will still be expected to dress out and will be involved in an
alternative activity (walking, organizing, written assignments . .
.) unless otherwise stated.
Lengthy illnesses or injuries must be excused by a written note
from your family doctor.
Two unexcused absences, missing practice without a note, may
require removal of your daughter from the team.
Dress Code
Athletes are expected to groom and dress themselves in such a way
that their appearance brings pride to the Lady Wildcats Athletic
Program.
No distracting hairdos, face painting, tattoos, stickers or
jewelry during class, practice or games will be allowed.
Shoulder length hair must be pulled back with an elastic band and
shirt tails must be tucked in when participating in Athletics or
competing.
Tobacco, Alcohol, Drugs, and Weapons
Any athlete disciplined and/or suspended from school for the
possession or use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or weapons may
result in possible removal from the Lady Wildcats Athletic
Program.
When is my child's practice for Volleyball and Basketball?
Practice Information
Volleyball and Basketball practice for the Green and Gold teams is
during the athletic period and before or after school, Monday
through Friday.
This year the 7th grade will practice Volleyball and Basketball
6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. And 8th grade will practice Volleyball and
Basketball 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
When are game times?
A schedule of games/meets for each sport is handed out at the
beginning of the season. It includes:
the team playing
opponent
site of contest
departure time
game time
estimated arrival time to school after game
District policy requires that athletes ride the bus to and from
away competitions. A note at least 24 HOURS before the game is
needed for your daughter to leave the game site with you. At the
game site, a parent must sign your daughter out with the coach.
It is the responsibility of the parent to arrange transportation
home from an away game. Please refer to the anticipated arrival
time on the schedule, however; arrival times are estimates, and
can be affected by competition level and officials.
Ticket Prices
Ticket prices for all middle school contests in Round Rock this
year are $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for students.
Games out of district and tournament passes may vary.
Where do we get game and practice uniforms?
Game Uniforms
Athletes on the Green and Gold teams will be provided with a
school supplied uniform for the game.
Athletes must provide socks and shoes.
Athletes are responsible for the uniform and in the case of loss
or damage, they will be held responsible for the cost of the
equipment.
The Girl's Athletic Department will be selling uniforms. The
uniforms consist of a yellow T-shirt with name and green mesh
shorts with name. Athletic uniforms will be for sale during the
beginning and throughout the year. Please purchase ASAP. Athletics
uniforms may be purchased through the coaches. Athletic t-shirts
are $10.00 and athletic shorts are $15.00. Make checks payable to
Walsh MS. Your driver license number and telephone number must be
included on the check.
Yellow T-shirt (adult sizes) with 1st initial and last name
Green mesh shorts (adult sizes) with 1st initial and last name
Uniforms and sweats will be on sale throughout the year.
Practice top $10, shorts $15 -- Students in the athletic program
will need a YELLOW SHIRT, GREEN SHORTS, SWEATS, TENNIS SHOES and a
GYM BAG. (Expensive shorts are not recommended due to the theft
problems of past years.)
Sweats may be any color and will be needed during the cooler
months for running days and during the Track season.
The gym bag may be a grocery bag, paper or plastic, or made of
cloth, and is used to transport clothes to and from school AND to
prevent clothes from being pulled through the holes of their
locker.
PLEASE encourage your daughter to leave her valuables at home and
to take extra care in locking up her belongings.
PLEASE have printed, iron on, or magic marker on ALL personal
belongings with FIRST INITIAL and FULL LAST NAME of the student.
(This helps the coach identify the student and to return any
missing belongings.)
A good pair of tennis shoes is also needed (NO KEDS or elevated
tennis shoes). Be sure to get a shoe with adequate support to
insure the safety of your daughter during workout.
What is the Athletic Grading Policy?
Athletes grades will be determined by:
Their participation - 80%
Responsibility - 20% (following the Lady Wildcat Athletic Program
Rules and Regulations).
