I have a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University. Five
years ago I became the first Teacher in Central Texas certified to teach the
Project Lead the Way middle school curriculum that leads into our High School
STEM Academies. I have rarely met a power tool or an Engineer that I didn't
like.
The mission for every Teacher involved in the nationwide Project
Lead the Way program is to get more students interested in pursuing
Engineering as a career. At the middle school level we expose the students
to a sampling of engineering disciplines. Over the two year period they will
learn about CAD, energy and the environment, automation and robotics, flight
and space and computer integrated manufacturing.
Additonally they learn how to use hand and power tools so they can turn their
designs into real world objects.
