![]() Pre-AP English Course RequirementsSUPPLIES: You should gather your supplies as soon as you can. All notebooks must be ready to go by the Monday following the first day of school. Blue or black ink pens highlighter 2 spiral notebooks 1" three-ring binder red pen (one subject spirals) 4 notebook dividers notebook paper
The notebook will count as a grade each six weeks. For full credit, it must be kept in the following order:
Course Requirements > These handouts are to be kept at the front Classroom Policies > of the notebook throughout the year. Standards for Written Work > You will refer to them many times.
Spiral 1: Warm-ups Each day you will have a warm-up activity to complete. You will begin this activity before the bell rings. You will be given a few minutes in class to complete it, and then we will begin with the day’s assignment. In the left-hand margin you will write the day’s date for each warm-up. If you are absent, on your warm-up page write the date of the day you were absent and write ABSENT.
Spiral 2: Notes You will write all your notes for English in this spiral and keep them there.
Divider 1: Grammar In the second section, you will be responsible for any daily board or overhead work relating to grammar. We will focus on specific skills each week and will take daily grades over these assignments. You will be tested on these skills throughout the six weeks. Once this information has been discussed in class, you are responsible for knowing it for any related activities and for applying it to your daily writing.
Divider 2: Spelling/Vocabulary In this section, you will keep all vocabulary and related activities.
Divider 3: Compositions You will keep all items that I give you concerning composition in this section. You will also need to keep up with all pre-writing, rough drafts, and graded essays.
Divider 4: Literature In this section you will keep all literature related vocabulary, handouts, and daily work.
