DAILY PRAYER

Lord, please refresh my mind each day to remember all of the good things in
life that YOU have given me-a home, my healthy children, my job,
my friends, and my students who genuinely care about me. I trust YOU, Lord,
to take my disappointment in others and mold my brokeness into a tool of
trusst and hope no matter what is going on in my life, In Jesus' Name. Amen

God, grant me
The Serenilty
to accept the things I cannot change,
The Courage
to change the things I can, and
The Wisdom
to know the difference.

CLASS OVERVIEW

Art in Jr. High follows a sequential body of content knowledge and skills
that broadens learners' understanding of visual expression. Students will
explore, organize, understand, and evaluate their abilities in art. As they
observe and discuss visual environments, they extend and deepen the basis of
their knowledge of art. They learn to value curiosity and to appreciate
flexibility in their thinking and decision-making. Jr. High art lays the
foundation for work at the high school level by providing students with
opportunities to:

•	Express ideas, thoughts, and feelings
•	Explore a wide variety of media
•	Collaborate on group projects
•	Relate art to social, environmental, and political issues.
•	Historical and multi-cultural influences

Art as a means of self-expression is of primary importance in Jr. High
school. Students grow more independent in the process of producing artworks
that are meaningful to them. They mature in their abilities to observe,
experience, and express themselves in effective and innovative ways. The
teacher encourages exploration and experimentation and gives consciously
individualize instruction to meet the varied needs of their students.
Students engage in complex problem solving and creative thinking as they
examine ideas relevant to the study of art.

Art is one semester in seventh grade and one semester in eighth grade.

"Art is that language, that common, innate desire to express ourselves and
communicate. Art transcends politics. Art truly goes beyond all borders."
