How may I contact you?

I am very interested in answering any questions that you may have. Please
feel free to contact me, either at school during my conference time (10:45-
11:30) or by email. I usually check my email at least once daily.

Do you send progress reports for each child?

I usually only send progress reports (3 week) to the parents of those
students who are, at that point, in danger of not making a passing grade.

Why are papers sent home for parent signature?

I send home any work that is below "70" for a parent signature. When it has
been returned, I know that you are aware of any difficulties/need for extra
reinforcement and practice that may be necessary. Thursday spelling tests
are routinely sent home for a signature so that you may help your child
prepare for the test the next day.

Does my child have homework?

Please check your child's assignment spiral daily. It is his/her
responsibility to copy the assignments that I have written on the board.
There is a reading log and multiplication facts that can be considered
homework until mastered. Other assignments include weekly spelling tests,
sight words, and other content area work that is not finished in class.
Also, I have a book report assignment every 4-6 weeks (genre and method of
presentation vary each time) and other long term projects that the students
should complete in a timely manner. Part of growth and maturity is learning
to complete tasks on time, not trying to do something the night before it is
due. In this way, children can do their best work and not feel pressured to
finish something that could have been completed over time.

Should I sign the assignment spiral?

Yes. Please either sign or initial the assignment spiral each evening. I
will check it each morning to be sure that not only the assignment spiral is
signed, but also that their homework is complete. Thanks in advance for your
support and help!
