Below are some good questions that parents asked last year.
I will add new questions as they arrive.
IMPORTANT! The projects are due Wednesday, February 29th, first
thing in the morning. If you are absent, please make arrangements for it to be
dropped off. Judging will be Thursday, March 1st.
JUDGING: We are in need of judges for the science fair. If you are
willing to be a judge, please send me an email. The judging begins about 9:00,
and can continue until about 12:00. If you are unable to commit that amount of
time, we will need judges for the smaller catagories, which will not take as
long. No expertise is necessary. We will provide you directions and guidance
throughout the judging process.
You can purchase the science fair boards and the composition books at any drug
or grocery store. They maybe any color.
ALL measurements must be metric.
A lab journal is required and must follow the journal directions exactly. (See
the Science Fair Packet)
The board display in the packet is only a suggested arrangement. Make sure
each element is present on the board, but you may display them in any manner.
NO faces in pictures.
Do NOT put your name on your journal or board. Your teacher will do this for
you.
The catagories are: Earth/Space, Life, Consumer, Botany, Chemistry, and
Physics. If you are not sure of your catagory, I will help you decide.
All projects must be done individually. No partners or groups.
Please do not bring your projects to school before the due date. I don't have
a safe place to keep them.
Your hypothesis must be an "If . . . then" statement. Example: If the gum has
the greatest amount of sugar, then it will blow the biggest bubble.
You must return your Science Fair Entry Form AND get my approval before
starting your experiment.
You must create charts and/or graphs from your data and display them on your
board.
There may be an issue of getting on the buses with large projects.
Please take this into consideration on 2/29. Plan ahead to be a car rider
if necessary.
