Cline Elementary
S.E.A.R.C.H.
This program is designed to provide extension lessons for the identified
GT students at the elementary level. The students will leave their regular
classrooms two times a week and attend the SEARCH pullout program.
Program Goals: During this time, the students will be exposed to many
higher level thinking activities. Each academic level has certain topic
and skills that are stressed. The skills taught in the GT program include:
*Creativity
*Research Skills
*Presentation Skills
*Technology
*Problem Solving
*Leadership
*Task Commitment
*Social Skills
Units Taught: SEARCH students are taught these skills through a variety
of topics such as:
*Kindergarten: Logic, Problem Solving, Attributes and Categories.
*lst grade: Creative Thinking Process, Classification, Attributes,
Geometry, Cuisenaire rods and math concepts, Inventions
and Zoology Exploration/Book Writing.
*2nd grade: Creative Thinking Process, Observations,
Problem solving, Inventions, Storytelling, Fairy Tales
and Energy Exploration (awarded BP grant..."A+ for Teachers").
*3rd grade: Creative Thinking Process, Team building, Problem solving,
Crime Lab/Mystery Festival, Inventions and Robotics and Energy
Exploration (awarded BP grant..."A+ for Teachers").
Homework: Students in SEARCH will rarely have work to complete
at home. If there is an assignment, a parent letter will be sent home.
Parent Feedback: Parents of first, second grade and third grade
students will receive a "Sharing Sheet" at the end of each 9 weeks.
These sheets will provide information of concepts, skills and activities
that have been studied in class.
Parents of second and third graders will also receive a progress report
each semester.
Windsong Intermediate
S.E.A.R.C.H.
SEARCH at Windsong is an enrichment program for 4th and 5th
graders. Three times weekly, the SEARCH students meet with the GT
teacher for 45 minutes each day. The 6th grade students are grouped
into classes where they receive Advanced Course Work in the four core
classes: science, math, language arts, and social studies.
Program Goals: The SEARCH class stresses higher-level thinking
skills and exposure to topics students that may not be study in their
regular class.

* Problem Solving
* Leadership
* Task Commitment
* Social Skills
Units Taught: SEARCH students are taught these skills through a variety
of topics such as:
4th Grade: Creative Thinking Process, Brain Works, Cartooning, Debate,
Energy Exploration and 4th Grade GT Performance Standard Project
(Innovations Celebration).
5th Grade: Creative Thinking Process, Brain Works, Team Building,
Problem Solving, Energy Exploration and Architecture.
Work Out of Class: Students in SEARCH will very rarely have work to
take out of class. If there is an assignment, a note will go home.
Assessment: Students in SEARCH receive a progress report each
semester.
