How much time should my child be spending on homework?

If they have homework, they should not be spending more than 1
hour/night maximum. Please let me know ASAP if your child is
struggling with an assignment or homework. Mrs. Halata, Mrs. Greenlee and I do our best to communicate with each other about
homework and project, so they don't overlap.

May I request materials, in advance, for my child?

If you are going out of town, your child will need to pick up
their assignments when they return to school. They may have to
come to tutorials to receive instruction. As much as I
understand that some out of town excursions can't be avoided,
some of my planning for the weeks in advance may not be
complete.

What is your discipline plan?

Each Monday, students receive 5 tickets for the week. If they
make a poor choice (either in behavior or responsibility)they
will give us a ticket. They will mark the ticket with a code
which indicates the reason the ticket was taken. On Friday, the
conduct sheet in their Friday Folder reflects the number of
tickets taken and the conduct grade for the week. If a student
loses 2 tickets for a behavior choice,in one class time, the
student may have to complete a timeout sheet and have it signed
by a parent. If a student loses 3 or more tickets in one day for
behavior, a phone call may be made to the parent to discuss
behavior. For severe behavior choices (fighting, profanity,
cheating, harassement, excessive classroom disruption) the student
will be sent directly to the principal and parents will be
notified.

Students save their tickets to purchase coupons for fun things to
do in the classroom, homework passes, free time and extra
goodies :)

I will notify you, personally, if I see something I think we need
to work on together with your child.

What are your tutoring times?

I have tutoring every Wednesday morning before school from 7:30-
8:15 and every Wednesday after school from 3:15-4:00. Sometimes
we have staff meetings come up in which tutoring will be canceled
or moved for that week.
