Student Organizers

Please check your child’s student organizer every day.  Learning to use an organizer is a valuable lifelong tool.  We will be providing time throughout the day for students to write down the day’s activities and their homework assignments.  If the students do not have any homework, they have been instructed to write N.H. In addition, a space has been provided at the bottom of each day for parent/teacher comments.  Ultimately, it is the student’s responsibility to tell the teacher or parent if there is information to be seen in this section.

Homework Policy

Assignments not turned in on the due date are considered late.  The assignment will have ten points deducted from the overall score each day it is late.  (10 pts. - 1 day late, 20 pts. - 2 days late) If an assignment is not turned in within the next five days, the student will receive a zero for that assignment.   Because all assignments are made for practice purposes, those students with zeroes must still complete the work during recess or extension and will receive no credit.  Failure to bring enrichment assignments not taken for a grade will result in a conduct mark.

Discipline

Refer to the Student Code of Conduct for any issues regarding discipline. Please note that a new policy has been added in regards to cell phones. Students are prohibited from displaying or using cellular phones during regular school hours. With the first offense, the phone will be confiscated and returned to the parent for a $15 fee.

Signed Papers

Graded papers will be sent home every Friday. A conduct sheet will be included with the home papers to inform you of your child’s work habits, behavior, and any supplies your child has used up and/or will need.  Periodic supply checks will be conducted for a conduct grade. When your child brings this folder home, please remove all the papers, except conduct sheet and tickets, from the folder and keep them at home.

If you have any questions, you may write a note on the conduct sheet.  If there are any papers in question, attach a note to the work and return with the Friday folder.  Your child is to return the folder signed on the following Monday.Your child will receive a conduct mark if the folder is not returned to class on Monday.

For the Fall semester, any papers receiving a failing grade will have a white correction slip attached. Please go over this assignment with your child, sign, and return both the paper and the slip to the teacher.

To begin the year, we will be using a ticket system to track conduct. Each student is given five tickets at the beginning of each week. Any tickets taken during the week will be attached to the conduct sheet with a reason noted on the back. Conduct grades are based on the number of tickets taken from a student per week in each classroom. The weekly conduct sheet will reflect the conduct for that individual week. Students will be able  to use the tickets to buy award coupons. There will also be an auction conducted after the first semester.

***Donations for the auction are greatly appreciated. Ex.: small toys, books, gift cards.
