I have been a science teacher for 15 years (all years spent in Dallas ISD). I
have been a teacher at TAG Magnet for 9 years. I previously spent 6 years at
Bryan Adams High School. This will be my 6th year teaching AP Environmental
Science. Environmental Science has blossomed over the last 10 years. With
contentious topics such as global warming and climate change (i.e.how much
have humans contributed to these processes), environmental science will
continue to be a prevalent topic in the media.
But in this course, we will examine the science (descriptions, explanations
and experimentations) behind global warming and climate change. Other topics
of discussion include soil, air, and water chemistry/pollution, invasive
species (or introduced species), alternatives to pesticide usage, renewable
sources of energy, ozone destruction, sustainable land use mechanisms, and
etc. This course will incorporate other branches of science (physics,
chemistry, and biology) as well as government and economics. Students will
examine a range of environmental problems and will be expected to come up with
plausible solutions to the problems.I enjoy teaching environmental science.
I'm a "work in progress", in other words, I don't have a low carbon footprint!
But this course has had a profound effect on my lifestyle. I hope the seniors
will leave the class being environmentally conscientious too.

something of the marvelous."
