Salve! I have been teaching at Westwood for 14 years, and teaching Latin for
18 years. I studied three years of Latin in high school (I thought I wanted to
have a career in the medical field), but was not the strongest Latin student
back then. When I got to college, I fell even more in love with Latin and new
I wanted to spend my life sharing that love for the Classical world. I got my
BA in Classical Languages (Latin and Greek) at Trinity University in San
Antonio. During my senior year at Trinity, I had the amazing opportunity to
study abroad through Stanford University’s Intercollegiate Center for
Classical Studies in Rome, Italy. I spent the summer after I graduated from
Trinity working on the excavation of a Roman bathhouse in Carthage, Tunisia. I
went straight to graduate school, receiving my MA in Classical Studies from
the University of Texas at Austin. I hold Texas teaching certificates in
Latin, English and Reading.
I enjoy anything that has to do with words: learning new English words,
learning new languages, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, puns, etc. I also enjoy
spending time in nature, vegetable gardening, and playing the piano.
My conference period is 9:05 to 10:35 on orange days, and 2:41-4:10 on white days.
I am available most mornings from 8:15 to 9:00 for tutoring, except
when I have meetings. I try to post all scheduled meetings on my
teacherweb.com calendar page
(http://teacherweb.com/TX/westwoodhighschool/EdsonJeanine/calendar1.aspx). I
can be available for tutoring after school
(except Tuesdays) if given enough notice.
If unsure whether today is an orange or a white day, a link near the bottom
of the left column has a downloadable school calendar. Blackened days are
orange days (periods 1 through 4).
