Dec. 18 - With a partner, do the Activity, p. 221. We'll share and turn these in when we return from the holiday. Dec. 17 - Finish and correct the open-book test. Dec. 16 - Open-book Constitution test. We'll take ten minutes to finish tomorrow. Dec. 15 - Constitution test. Turn in the work from p. Dec. 8-Dec. 14. It's all together on one paper. Dec. 14 - Do a map mystery worksheet, "Shifting Power in the House." Put this on the same paper as your other small Constitution assignments. We'll turn this in tomorrow. We played one last round of Constitution Bowl in preparation for our test tomorrow. Dec. 11 - Discuss the work from p. 235. Read an article about the electoral college and do map questions #1 and 2 on the back. (On #2, just give the number; don't write down all the state names and electoral counts). We discussed this today but didn't turn it in. We'll turn it in on Monday. Dec. 10 - Discuss and turn in the "How a Bill Becomes a Law" worksheet. For tomorrow, do the graphic organizer skills exercise on p. 235. Also, read about the electoral college on p. 255-256. Then do Section Assessment, p. 257, #8. We'll have our Constitution test on Tuesday, Dec. 15. Dec. 9 - Discuss p. 248-251. Hold onto this paper; we'll add more to it. Do the worksheet, "How a Bill Becomes a Law," and continue the Constitution Bowl. Dec. 8 - We continued our Constitution Bowl today. Also, read p. 248-251. Do the Chart Skills questions on p. 250 and Section Assessment, p. 251, #7. This is due tomorrow. Dec. 7 - Begin Constitution Bowl. Dec. 4 - Share Constitution answers with your groups and spend the remaining time quizzing each other. We'll start our Constitution Bowl on Monday. Dec. 3 - Finish your own section of the Constitution packet. If you didn't finish in class, finish at home tonight. Tomorrow, we'll share answers with our groups. Dec. 2 - Finish and correct the citizenship test. Go over the set-up of the Constitution and begin work on the Constitution packet. We'll work on it more tomorrow. Dec. 1 - Discuss p. 215-218. Read the play, "The Constitution." Begin taking a citizenship test. We'll take a few minutes to finish tomorrow. Nov. 30 - Finish, share, and turn in your political cartoon. For tomorrow, read p. 215-218. Do Section Assessment #1a and 3a (combine into one answer); #1c and 3c (combine into one); and choose either #6, p. 218 or #18, p. 220. Nov. 24 - Discuss and turn in the work from p. 206-210. After reading "Learn the Skill" on p. 644, do the Activity, p. 210. You may do either the conflict that resulted in the Great Compromise or the conflict that resulted in the Three Fifths Compromise. We did this in partnerships, but if you were absent, do it on your own. Nov. 23 - Read p. 206-210. Do Section Assessment, p. 210, #2 a, b, c, and #1 g. Then do either Section Assessment, p. 210, #1 c,d,f, or the "Which Plan?" puzzle worksheet. This is due tomorrow. Finish your delegate's cypher (3rd period) and township map (5th period) and turn them in today. Nov. 19 - Discuss and turn in the work from p. 200-205. Third period did the map mystery worksheet today. Third period finished with a worksheet, "Delegate's Cypher." Fifth period did a township map worksheet. We'll finish on Monday. Nov. 18 - Read p. 200-205. Identify (in two or three sentences): 1. the Articles of Confederation; 2. two weaknesses of the Articles; 3. two strengths of the Articles; 4. Shay's rebellion and how it influenced thinking about the Articles of Confederation. Fifth period, do the map mystery worksheet. This is due tomorrow. Nov. 17 - Take the Chapter 6 test today. Nov. 16 - Read a play, "George Washington: A Soldier, A Man of Peace." Play review jeopardy for the test tomorrow. Nov. 13 - Third period, finish and report on Critical Thinking and Writing, p. 196, #19. Then do Analyzing Primary Sources and Applying Your Skills, p. 197, #21-24. Fifth period, with a partner, do Critical Thinking and Writing, p. 196, #19. This is all we had time for in fifth period. Nov. 12 - Go over the test list for the Chapter 6 test on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Discuss p. 191-195. Keep this assignment to use as study notes for the test on Tuesday; then we'll turn it in. Read the play, "Southern Guerilla." Third period began work on Critical Thinking and Writing, p. 196, #19 (with a partner). We'll finish this tomorrow. Nov. 11 - Read p. 191-195. Do Section Assessment, p. 195, #3, 4, 5, 6. Fifth period also did Identifying Points of View, p. 197, #23 and 24. (There's a bigger picture of this political cartoon on p. xxiii.) This is due tomorrow. Nov. 10 - Finish, share, and turn in your acrostic poem. Nov. 9 - Finish, share, and turn in your women/African American art project. Choose two of the four articles on the involvement of young people in the war (in a packet). Write an acrostic poem using the name of one of the young people as the title. In the poem, summarize his or her involvement in the war. We'll take time to finish this tomorrow. Nov. 6 - Continue work on your women/African American art project. We'll take ten minutes to finish on Monday. Nov. 5 - With a partner, do the partner art project that goes with p. 186-190 (on a handout). We'll finish tomorrow. Nov. 4 - Read the Newsweek article, "When OppositesAttract" and do an accompanying writing assignment (on a handout). Turn this in with your work from p. 181-185 today. For tomorrow, read p. 186-190 in the textbook. Nov. 3 - With a partner, do the Activity, p. 154. If you were absent, do this on your own. Discuss the work from p. 181-185 and share dialogues. We'll turn this in tomorrow. Nov. 2 - Finish "The Pausing American Loyalist" worksheet today. Fifth period discussed and turned this in. Third period will turn theirs in tomorrow. For tomorrow, read p. 181-185. Identify the significance of 1. Trenton and Princeton; 2. Saratoga; 3. Valley Forge. Oct. 29 - On p. 172, read "Learn the Skill." Then read the Declaration of Independence, p. 177-180, and complete the worksheet, "Analyzing a Document..." We'll finish the back, "The Pausing American Loyalist," next Monday and turn it in then. Oct. 28 - Discuss p. 168-171. Read p. 173-175. On your paper from yesterday (p. 168-171 work), identify "Common Sense." Fifth period discussed and turned this in. Third period will do so tomorrow. Oct. 27 - Share and turn in your "Daughter Over the Sea" lyrics. Read p. 168-171. Do Section Assessment, p. 171, #3 and 4. Also do the Activity, p. 171. This is due on Wednesday. Oct. 26 - With a partner, do "Revolutionary Tea" (instructions on a handout). We'll share these and turn them in tomorrow. If you were absent, do this on your own. |
