How do I make an appointment with my student's counselor?
Please call Mrs. Linda Thompson, Counseling Assistant, at (385)646-
5245 between the hours of 9:00 and 3:00 to set up an appointment. An appointment is always a good
idea, as counselors are sometimes out of their offices for a
variety of reasons, such as classroom presentations or district
meetings or they often have appointments previously scheduled
with other students and parents.
How can I find out why my student is not doing well academically in a class?
1. You may check your student's progress in any class he/she is
taking at
Wasatch by going to the district web site at
www.granite.k12.ut.us.
Click on "Parents", go to "Progress Reports", enter a student
number and password and then click on the class to see a listing
of all assignments and the number of points your student received.
2. You may also e-mail you student's teachers from the Wasatch
web site to ask questions, get information on assignments, etc.
3. If you would like to talk with a teacher by telephone or
schedule a meeting with a teacher, please call the main office at
(385)646-5244 to leave a message for a particular teacher.
How do I make a schedule change?
All Wastach students and parents had the opportunity to make
schedule requests in May. As a result, schedule changes
are often not possible due to the fact that the master schedule
is based on course requests and most classes are full before the
school year begins. Sometimes schedule changes are possible if a
student wants to substitute one elective for another,
providing there is room in the class the student wants to add.
Schedule changes that involve switching from one teacher to
another in core classes are not possible. There is a $5 fee for
each requested schedule change.
What is a CCR Plan.?
CCR Plan is the acronym for College and Career Readiness Plan.
Wasatch Jr. High has CCR Plan meetings for all 8th grade students.
This process helps students:
• Explore possibilities and expand opportunities
• Discuss educational goals for the next 4 years
Students perform better when parents/guardians are involved in
their education. The CCR Plan meetings assists parents/guardians in
helping students on their way to independence and a successful
life.
