PAST TENSE (PRETERITE)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We will be focusing on two PAST TENSES:  preterite and the imperfect.
The "preterite" is used when talking about a specific time period.
The "preterite" sends the message the action began and ended--
For example:
     I ate fish last night(for dinner). (action began and ended)
               Yo comí el pescado anoche.
PAST TENSE  (IMPERFECT):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The "imperfect" is used when talking about a vague time period.
The "imperfect" is also used when the action is repetitive.
Key words:  "used to ..."

For example:

     I used to swim to school every day. (repetitive action)

              Yo nadaba a la escuela cada día.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PERSONAL "A" :
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When one person does an action to another person, you insert
the "personal 'a' between the action and the second person.

For example:

       The cannibal ate the teacher.

                El caníbal comió a la profesora.

ACABO DE:

Yo acabo de = "I just did something" or "I just finished something"

For example:

Acabar de has an infinitive following the "de"---

   Acabo de + infinitive
   Acabas de + infinitive
   Ella acaba de + infinitive
   Acabamos de + infinitive
            etc.

         Ellos acaban de bailar la Macarena.

               They just finished dancing the Macarena.

                         or
