Intermediate Algebra Disclosure for Mrs. Reese
Description & Objective:
Students will explore linear, exponential, rational, logarithmic, and
trigonometric functions and their graphs. System of equations, polynomials,
complex numbers and irrational numbers will also be studied.
Students will develop problem-solving strategies, be able to graph
various types of functions and draw conclusions. They will perform operations
on polynomials; develop skills in solving and graphing non-linear equations.
They will use trigonometric and logarithmic functions and equations to solve
real-world problems. Technology, such as computers, calculators and internet,
will play a large part of this course.
Materials & Equipment:
1” Binder Pencils and Colored pencils
Graphing Calculator (We will have TI-84+ calculators to use in class.)
Loose-leaf paper & 3 dividers Graph Paper
Assignments, Quizzes and Tests:
·Assignments will be given on a regular basis.
·They are to be done on standard sized paper and in pencil.
·The student is responsible for getting any work when not in class.
Students can get the work from my web page.
·The assignments are due the next class period. Any work not turned in on
time will be marked late.
·Students will be given 8 Redo/Late passes that can be used for late work,
any work with very low score, or to bring up a quiz or test score.
·Quizzes will be given from previous assignments at the end of 2-3 sections.
Tests will be given after every chapter. Missed quizzes and tests must be
made up within 1 week after returning to school.
·Students will turn in a notebook at the end of every quarter.
Grading:
Homework 30% Quizzes 25% Tests 30% Projects/Writing/Notebook 15%
A = 92.8 A- = 89.8 B+ = 86.8 B = 83.8 B- = 79.8
C+ = 76.8 C = 73.8 C- = 69.8 D+ = 67.8 D = 64.8
D- = 57.8 F = 0
Citizenship Grades: Students’ grades will be based on behavior and effort
made in class. Honesty is a major part of the grade. Grades for tardies and
attendance are outlined in the planner.
