ABC's of 3rd Grade



Here is a brief overview of 26 classroom policies!
 
 

A
stands for...
Attendance- much of our learning takes place together as a class.  We do lots of hands-on activities and group work.  Please plan to have your child attend school every day, except in cases of illness or emergency.                                                                                                                                                                                          
B stands for...
Book Orders- at the beginning of each month I will send home the Scholastic Book Order for that month.  This is a great way to purchase books inexpensively, while helping out class earn points towards other items.  

C stands for...
Communication- please feel free to contact me by e-mail or call me at school with questions or concerns at any time.  You can also send a note in your child's AGENDA.
 
 

 

D stands for...
Dismissal- school ends at 2:50pm.  You must send a note to school if your child is to go home a different way than his/her normal schedule especially if he/she is to ride a different bus.

 
 
E stands for...
Emergencies- please make sure we have the correct emergency information on file for your child.  If phone numbers change, you can call or send a note so your child's file can be updated! 


 
F stands for...
Field trips- we will take a field trip in the fall and spring that will incorporate some hands on learning on the 3rd grade Standards of Learning. 
 
 


G stands for...
Graded work- all graded work will be sent home on Monday in your child's orange ROAR folder.  Please return the empty folder on Tuesdays. 

 


H stands for...
Homework- your child will have homework Monday-Thursday.  It should take about 20-30 minutes and must come back to school the next day in their AGENDA. 

 
I stands for...
Important Information- if you have any important papers that need to come to school, please send them in your child's clear pocket of their AGENDA.  I check these every morning.

J stands for...
Job well done-I look forward to working with each and every student and having them work to the best of their ability this school year!
 
 
 

K stands for...
Kindness- we will learn about being kind to others and ourselves everyday.
 
 

 

L stands for...
Lunch- our class has lunch from --:-- - --:--.  If you come for lunch , be sure to sign in at the office and pick up a visitor's pass.

 
 
M stands for...
Money- when sending money to school, please put it in an envelope or bag inside the clear pocket of your child's AGENDA.  I will check this daily to ensure the money makes it to correct place.


N stands for...
Newsletters- newsletters with class updates and happenings will be posted on the announcement page of the website, and sent to all parent's who have signed up to receive emails.  

  

O stands for...
Open House- please plan to attend this event to learn more about our daily classroom procedures, policies, to meet me, and to see your classroom!

 

P stands for...
Parties- if you would like to help out with a class party or provide snacks or favors, please let me know! There will be a sign-up sheet at Open House.
 
 

Q stands for...
Quick and quiet hellos- as you volunteer in our classroom or school, I will encourage your child to acknowledge you with a "quick and quiet hello".  It is important for them to greet you, but remain involved in class activities. 
 

R stands for...
Reading- students are expected to read at home every night, as part of their nightly homework.  Encourage them to bring their library books home to read.  We will also take Accelerated Reader tests at school over books we've read.  Each student has the goal to reach at least 50 AR points by the end of the school year!

 

S stands for...
Super Student! I look forward to Room 328 being full of Super Students this year!!!!




T stands for...
Tardies- students should be at school by 8:30am.  Arriving after this time causes students to lose instructional time.

U stands for...
Useful resources- this website is FULL of resources for parents and students.  If you have any you would like to suggest, please email them to me!!

 

V stands for...
Volunteers- we love volunteers!!  Moms, dad, grandparents...you can volunteer in class or work on things for class at home.  Please let me know if you'd like to help.

 
W stands for...
Website- our website is updated weekly with announcements, spelling words and pictures- so be sure to come back and check it out often!!
 

X,Yand Z 
stands for...
I am eXcited to work with You and your child this year! Make sure he/she gets plenty of Zzzz's each night as we have exciting days planned for this year!!
