Students must complete HOSA Membership registration form and pay their HOSA dues to participate with HOSA sponsored events and will be registered on the National HOSA registry.
Last chance to join and participate in the State Conference is December 12th, 2016.

Fundraisers Approved for GHSA HOSA: 
Students must return permission slip to fundraise to participate. 

HOSA $500 Fundraising Scholarship-takes 2 minutes to apply.
Chegg has partnered with HOSA to help more high school students find and connect with best-fit colleges and scholarships while helping local HOSA Chapters raise money!

This is a fundraiser to purchase class supplies $2 credit for each cartridge.

HOSA State Leadership Conference March 10-12, 2017 at the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton, 50 Kingsmill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185
Please take note:  This is a competition at the state level with all other schools and health academies in Virginia.  Students may select two competitions in different categories and must perform well in class and prepare for the event they wish to participate in.

Criteria:  attendance: zero-2 absences, grades: 3.0 GPA or higher, student wishes to attend, student leads by example with professional behavior and performed well in event in class mock scenarios, financial support to attend.  Cost is approximately $200 per student (registration fee, hotel room for two nights shared).  Students can fundraise to pay for conference or make payments prior to conference.
If student do not fundraise; payments of $30 per month from Sept-March will pay for conference.

Will need several parents to attend conference.


What students must do to qualify to attend any field trip and VA HOSA State Leadership Conference:
Grades:  Must have a A or B in all classes.
Behavior:  All GHSA students must follow school and classroom rules.  Any students who has been suspended SIPS or OSS is not eligible to attend any field trip.  Students must follow teachers directions in school or that is a reason to be excluded from any field trip.
Fees:  Students must have paid their National & VA HOSA dues for school year $15.
Students must be working on fundraisers actively. 

Students must select their competitive event for the conference and start preparing for their event.  All competitive events are located on hosa website go to this web address:  http://hosa.org/node/117
Any student who is not a positive leader will not be invited to attend any trips.


There is a limited number of students that we will be able to take so register early.




Special Notes:

Curriculum Culmination field trips will be taken at the proper sequences in the school year...There are several opportunities to sign up to participate in field trips to:
HOSA Fall Leadership Conference at Liberty Conference Center on Nov 4; must be a hosa member and return permission slip.  Cost of $20 can be paid or fundraised.
The Chesapeake TBA, Phenix November TBA

Students must make request to participate.  Permission slip will be given.  MUST have an "A" or "B" to miss other classes to attend.
Students must wear name tag, scrubs and have leather type closed toe/heel shoes not cloth or canvas.

All GHSA students interested in guaranteed admission to ODU's BSMD joint program with EVMS must have a 3.5 high school GPA, 1250 on SAT (verbal and math), and experience in the field through becoming an EMT and riding ambulance, becoming a CNA or Medical Assistant etc.

Field Trip Criteria:
1.  Students must attend all classes.
2.  Students must have an "A" or "B" in class and have no missing work.
3.  Students must have permission to attend.

HOSA Fees for school year:
State and National HOSA membership dues are $15.00
HOSA State Fair Admission $5.00 midway ride card $15 transportation $5.
HOSA Fall Leadership Academy $20.00 includes lunch.
HOSA State Leadership Academy in Williamsburg, VA Conference and Hotel cost approx. $200.00.  (Parents can choose to attend conference and drive).
All students are issued a name tag.  

Fundraisers are available to assist students and parents to cover the cost of the HOSA opportunities:

First Aid Kit Fundraiser Sept -Dec  cost $10.
School Sprit Face Painting cost $50 cents for a paw print or sports team #.
Recycle empty printer ink cartridges.  (Bring in your empty printer ink cartridges if you do not refill them).
