8/17  CLASS-Welcome to my class! Begin discussing expectations and information
            for science class; receive the initial pack of information sheets.
      ***HW-Review the 7 information sheets.

8/18  CLASS-Receive the article summary information/requirements sheet; finish
            discussing the information sheets.
      ***HW-Begin locating an appropriate article for your summary and look
            for evidence of the nature/characteristics of science in the
            article; I need to see and approve your article selection by 8/23;
            your write-up is due on 8/25.

8/19  CLASS-Overview of the science textbook and its format as a learning
            tool.
      ***HW-Locate an appropriate article/begin your summary if you got
            approval today.

8/22  CLASS-Issue textbooks to keep at home; receive a practice sheet for 
            science safety symbols; video on the scientific method.
      ***HW-Continue obtaining/developing your article summary.

8/23  CLASS-In class assistance with your summsry as needed. ADDED 8/23:
            TWO WORKSHEETS FROM SECTION 1 WERE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS WHO
            DID NOT NEED MORE CLASS TIME FOR THE ARTICLE SUMMARY. THESE
            SHEETS ARE TO BE TURNED IN BY 8/26.
      ***HW-Review the safety symbols-quiz on 8/24.

8/24  CLASS-Safety symbols quiz; "LIFE" VIDEO.
      ***HW-Have your article summary ready to share/hand in on 8/25.

8/25  CLASS-Begin sharing life science article summaries; all summaries to
            be turned in at the end of class.
      ***HW-Finish reading Chapter 1, sections 1-3, pages 6-21.

8/26  CLASS-Return articles with initial grade; continue with presentations.

THE PLANNED SEQUENCE OF LESSONS HAS BEEN CHANGED DUE TO MY ABSENCE. HOWEVER,
THE LAB ACTIVITY CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS IS IMPORTANT AND FITS THE INFORMATION
WE HAVE BEEN DEVELOPING. ADDITIONAL CHANGES IN SEQUENCE MAY STILL BE NECESSARY
UNTIL I CAN RETURN.

8/29  CLASS-Reaction Time lab predictions discussed, due by start of class on
            8/30; Characteristics and Needs of life worksheet to be done.
      ***HW-Review the lab information sheets and have your predictions ready
            before data collection begins tomorrow(8/30); you will also need
            at least 3 sheets of 1/4" rule graph paper by 8/31.

8/30  CLASS-Reaction Time data collection and averaging; copy data from master
            table onto yours; begin setting up your graphs if you can.
      ***HW-Continue reviewing the lab requirements; have graph paper in class
            on 8/31.

8/31  CLASS-Begin/continue setting up the data display graphs and plotting the
            information that was obtained.
      ***HW-Be prepared to continue with the lab or an alternate assignment
            to be determined.
