Encourage your kindergartener to practice numbers - count objects; what is
the number and how do you write it?

Practice the Morning Message: a copy will come home during the first six weeks
Encourage students to try and read Environmental Print - words on the street
signs, store signs, cereal boxes, library books, any books, food containers,
etc..
Practice name writing and/or printing letters
Shoe tying and fastening clothing i.e. pant snaps and belt buckles
Learning can be FUN, too! (and build up some of those small motor skills)
Play "I SPY" games
Color with your child and encourage them to stay in the lines
Work puzzles
Build with building blocks and/or legos
String beads or Lacing Cards
Play Pick-up Sticks
Practice picking up small objects with tongs
Practice using scissors
Let your child use a chalkboard/wipe-off board to write name, numbers,
letters, and "play school."
