HOMEWORK POLICY:
Homework is written daily on the board. Students are expected to write
their assignments in their assignment books. Homework is due the next day
unless noted otherwise.
It is not excused when a student does not write down the homework
assigned in class. Incomplete homework does not just "go away". It must be
completed and turned in the following school day.
Teachers will check and initial the assignment books daily. Parents
are asked to check for completion of homework and initial their child's
book as well.
GRADING SCALE:
We follow Roanoke County's standard grading scale which has been revised
for the 2011-2012 school year as follows:
90 - 100 A
80 - 89 B
70 - 79 C
60 - 69 D
0 - 59 F
PE and PEX:
Please have your child bring gym shoes daily. If you feel it is more
convenient, your child can keep a pair of shoes at school in the classroom
closet.
SNACKS:
We have a mid-morning working snack each day. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR
CHILD BRINGS A HEALTHY SNACK DAILY. We request that you do not send snacks
that require refrigeration and that you do not send sweet or sticky items like
cake, brownies, frosted cookies, or cupcakes. The following are examples of
healthy snacks that students can enjoy while we continue to work: apples,
grapes, raisins, dried fruit, carrot sticks, peanuts, crackers, pretzels, or
granola/nutrition bars. Students may purchase a snack from the cafeteria
BEFORE 7:50 A.M. instead of bringing one from home if that is more convenient
for your family.
TUESDAY FOLDERS:
Folders are sent home each week containing important correspondence and
graded papers. Please review each Tuesday and return to school on Wednesday.
