May I bring toys or other items from home?
Please leave all toys and related items at home. If we have show and tell I will let you know what you
can bring. If you bring personal books from home, please make sure they are labeled with your name!
May I bring a water bottle to school each day?
Yes!
Do we have buddy lunch?
If the class has had a good week every Friday we will have buddy lunch. Sometimes we will also have
buddy lunch with Mrs. Maguire's class.
May I bring soda for lunch?
Please, no sodas for lunch. You may bring juice, water or milk.
What should I bring for snack each day?
For snack bring something healthy.
Good choices include: fruit, veggies, crackers, cereal, yogurt, raisins
Do not bring candy, cookies, and chips for snack
If I forget my homework or book can I come back to the classroom and get it?
No. School policy states that once you leave the classroom for the day you may not return for any
reason. This includes leaving homework, textbooks, or personal items. If you leave your water bottle
or jacket I will set them aside for you the next day.
Can my parents or grandparents come to our field trips?
Yes! For all of our field trips we will need chaperones. Some of the trips have limited space though,
so if you are interested let me know as soon as possible!
How can I get a homework pass?
In second grade homework passes are given as prizes for AR, Math Blast and birthdays. At times
homework passes will also be given for good behavior. A homework pass is only good for ONE
assignment. (Only one side of homework sheet). For Language, Science, and S.S. tests homework
passes are also given for A's and B's.
HONOR ROLL: If you receive a special blue homework pass for honor roll that means you have NO
HOMEWORK for a night. (both sides of sheet)
Do you send home book orders?
Yes! I try to send them home at least once a month.
When buying books, please only send a CHECK with the exact amount. Books usually take 2 weeks
from the day I order them to come in. I always order books the day I wrote on the due date line of the
forms. Parent Online Ordering is also an option.
Are we allowed to bring a pencil sharpener to school?
Please leave all pencil sharpeners at home. When the Book Fair comes to town they often sell
sharpeners. If you purchase one take it home with you.
What happens if I forget to bring my supplies to school?
Second grade is all about responsibility! If you forget something, for example your reading book, you
will pull your pin for being unprepared for class.
What does "not a C.S." mean?
You may see this phrase on your child's paper. It means not a COMPLETE SENTENCE. Your child
should take part of the question and put it back in the answer. If this is not done, it is considered
incomplete.
