Reading News
Here is where I will write important literacy facts. All the facts are based on research and should be considered when assisting your child with reading and writing.
Adults reading aloud to children contributes to them becoming fluent readers. Children should hear effective reading daily. To become fluent readers, students need to develop:
Appropriate decoding skills and strategies
A large vocabulary of words whose meaning they know
A store of words they can recognize at a glance
The ability to self-monitor while they read
The appropriate comprehension strategies to use while they read
The motivation to read purposely and voluntarily

What Really Matters in Fluency
Learning rhymes is a good way for students to learn letter-sound relationships. Read nursery rhymes and other rhyming tales to assist your child with early reading.
