How can I best get in touch with Mrs. McIntyre?
Parents - the best way to get in touch with me is through
email. I check my email at least three times a day and usually
respond promptly.
Students - I am available and in my room by 7:10 every morning.
I also hold afterschool tutorials on Tuesdays 2:30 to 4:00 pm
and Thursdays by appointment only. Another way to communicate
with me is through email. Students often email me over the
course of an evening or weekend with questions. Also students,
having printer/computer difficulty, are prompt in sending
electronic copies of assignments.
Does Mrs. McIntyre accept late work?
Classwork and homework is accepted only on the day it is due.
If student does not have homework at beginning of class, he or
she has till 2:30 that day to hand it in (maximum 50%).
Remember, homework is due at the beginning of class! Anything I
receive after this will be considered late.
I do accept late projects and reports at -10 points a day (not
class but school days).
Can I retake tests or quizzes?
With my permission and only during Tuesday tutorial. Your final
score will be the average of both exams.
What are your classroom rules and what happens if I break them?
See my section on classroom rules for a detailed list of
expectations and consequences. Generally there are five golden
rules we all follow in class: Be prompt, be prepared, be
respectful, listen to others, keep all electronics, food,
beverages and negative attitudes outside of class! (The most
important rule is be respectful to yourself and others!)
What if I am late for class?
Lakeland High has a tardy policy. The first and second time you
are late you receive verbal warnings. The third time you
are late you receive an afterschool detention. The fourth time
you are late you are suspended. Fair warning: After the second
week of school, I do adhere to the tardy policy till the last
day of school.
Students, many of you like to linger out in the hallway and wait
till the last minute to shoot into class. Not a good idea if
you want to avoid tardies!
