I am so excited about this school year. What a blessing to be able share
what God has given me. First of all, as for my background, most importantly,
I am a born-again believer. I am foremost a mom with three fabulous children
and a wonderful husband. I graduated from Radford University with a BA in
art and minoring in French. I have a varied resume of related work and
continuing education. I currently do portraiture on commission, and have
shown my work in several juried and nonjuried art shows as well as displaying
my work at local galleries.
For the fall classes, I am excited to say that I will be offering instruction
on the elements of art (line, value, space, perspective, color theory) with
an emphasis on drawing. For those with more advanced drawing skills, we will
be working on more advanced drawing techniques. Art appreciation will also
be incorporated into the art program.
As the classes progress into the Winter/Spring classes, they will incorporate
oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, mixed media, illustration, graphic
arts, and perhaps some sculpture.
For the more advanced classes, I am going to be working on 2 bigger projects.
The first will be one in which the Junior High and High School students write
and illustrate a children's book.
The second and last project for the year will be a short, animated, film,
using the claymation process. This will be a fun, but learning process for
all of us. I am REALLY excited about this one as it will incorporate all the
art elements and composition and design that we have learned so far. WOOT!
This year, I am excited to say that I will also be teaching French at Life
Academy. I am very excited about this new addition to my schedule. I have
had 9 years of French. Four years were in high school, and five years were in
college. I was studying to possibly become a French interpreter, but decided
to go with the Graphic arts career instead. I graduated with honors in French
and was inducted to the French National Honor Society my senior year at
Radford University.
I am looking forward to working with each of my students and if there are any
questions, please feel free to call me or e-mail me.
May God richly bless you!
