Originally from the Tidewater area, Mr. Evans has been involved in public
education for over 20 years. His teaching and administrative experiences have
all been in Central and Southside Virginia. He has taught middle and high
school math, physics, and computer applications. He has also served as a
coordinator for instructional technology. He returned to the classroom in
2008 with a desire to engage students more directly and personally.
In the short term, it is my desire for all students to acquire the knowledge
and skills that they need to pass the required SOL tests. However, my goal
for students is that they acquire the knowledge and skills to be productive
citizens and life-long learners. A strong foundation in mathematics
contributes to this goal by building confidence and competence, by building
logical thinking skills, and by giving students the foundation they need to
pursue additional learning opportunities in virtually any field or career of
their choosing.
