I graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelors of Arts in
Spanish and a Masters of Teaching in 2004. I have been teaching Spanish at
Nottoway High School since the 2004-05 school year. During the summers, I
have worked at the Virginia Governor's Spanish Academy as a Resident
Assistant as well as a Teacher. In the summer of 2007, I took a group of
students to Spain for 11 days. In the winter of 2009, I took a group of
students to Spain, France, and Italy for 12 days.
The mission for the class is to instill a genuine interest of Spanish in my
students. Students will learn about the cultures of Spanish-Speaking
countries and will begin to be appreciative of different cultures. Students
will learn Spanish vocabulary and grammar. In Level I, students will learn
basic vocabulary words and grammatical structures. In Level II, students
will continue with vocabulary and grammar. In Level III, students will
complete their study of Spanish grammar. In Level IV, students will apply
previous knowledge from Spanish I-III. Levels IV and V are conducted
completely in Spanish and are geared for students who have experienced a
great level of success in Spanish I, II, and III.
