I grew up in Nottoway County and graduated from Nottoway High School. I
actually teach in one of the classrooms where I was a student. I graduated
from Longwood College with a bachelor's degree to teach and later went back
to earn my master's degree from Longwood University (it was renamed by
then). I am currently in my 12th year of teaching, all of which were spent
in a 5th grade classroom at Nottoway Intermediate.
The mission for the class is to make students lifelong learners. In
Virginia History we learn about the accomplishments and mistakes of the
Viginians before us. We take that knowledge to avoid repeating those
mistakes and replicate the positives.
