Welcome!

I am excited to be your child's English teacher this year. We have a very busy year planned, and I need your help for your student to be successful. Please read over the information below and your student’s copy of the Class Expectations which he/she should have brought home. Please sign the parent/guardian section of the Class Expectations and return it with your student.

Want Email and Text Updates?

If you would like to receive updates on what's going on in class, go to the Text/Email page for the block that your child has English 11 (A day or B day), and then click "Subcribe to this News Flash." You can sign up to receive email and/or text message updates and I recommend that you sign up for both! Please encourage your child to add his/her number as well.

Supplies
In addition to their textbook and student planner, students should bring the following supplies to class every day:
  • three ring binder w/looseleaf paper
  • pen and pencil
  • highlighters--at least 3 different colors
  • post it notes--your choice in size
  • thumb drive- at least 512 mb

The textbook is also online if you need to reference it at home.

Communication

Communication between us is essential for your student’s success. We have several ways of keeping in touch:

  • Check the class website, www.teacherweb.com/VA/OLHS/Seacrist. Homework, study guides, helpful links and lots of other information are posted. Bookmark the site for future access.

  • The best way for you to reach me is via e-mail. I check e-mail frequently and will respond to your message promptly.

  • I send e-mail/text reminders from the website for homework, tests and other important dates. Be sure you are signed up for email and/or text message updates and reminders.

Homework

Homework is usually assigned everyday and is posted on the board in the classroom. Students are responsible for recording their assignments in their planners. Homework is also posted on the website daily.
