VARSITY
Nick Metrokotsas - Metrokotsas - or “Coach Metro” as he is more commonly
known - brings nearly 40 years of experience coaching high school and college
football in New Jersey. He built or rebuilt programs at St. Peters High
School, St. John Vianney High School and Morris Catholic High School
compiling an overall record of 131-90-4 (.580) during his head coaching
career. A three-time “Coach of the Year”, Metrokotsas has led his former
teams to two State Championships and had an impressive run of seven playoff
appearances in nine seasons from the late 90’s into the 2000’s.
Referred to as one of the finest offensive line coaches in the country by
College Football Hall of Famer Johnny Majors, Metrokotsas has authored three
football coaching books, placed over 60% of his graduates in college football
programs and produced four NFL players. “Coach Metro’s experience in Catholic
schools, rebuilding programs and helping student-athletes reach the next
levels in life make him a perfect fit at PVI” remarked incoming Athletic
Director Billy Emerson.
Upon receiving Middlesex County (NJ) Coach of the Year honors, the Star
Ledger wrote: “Nick Metrokotsas is a ‘Builder of Programs’, known for
getting more out of his players than is expected... a powerful motivator and
communicator able to increase participation in his program from players,
parents, faculty, administrators, support groups, and youth coaches. He is
truly a complete football program manager.”

Dennis Hutson - Coach Hutson was the founding varsity coach of Paul VI’s
football program in 1983 and has coached football and track at Paul VI for 27
years. He serves as student advisor, biology teacher and technical drafting
teacher, and is a member of Paul VI’s Hall of Fame. Coach Hutson earned his
B.A. from James Madison University, where he played halfback and kick
returner. After graduating from JMU, Coach Hutson served as an assistant
coach at DeMatha High School. Dennis resides in Fairfax City, VA with his
wife, Pam, and their children Cali (15), Caleb (13) and Chase (10).
Bob Richel - Bob is in his second year coaching football at PVI. He has
previously coached football and baseball at Marist High School in New Jersey
before relocating to Northern Virginia. Bob will coach the varsity
Linebackers and will run the Scout Team against the varsity offense.Coach
Richel graduated from Curry College and obtained a Masters Degree from Boston
University. Bob played both football and baseball during his college years.
He and his wife Debbie reside in Clifton, Va. And have a daughter Hailey who
attends PVI and is a member of the varsity dance team.
Theo Metrokotsas - Theo, son of Coach Nick Metrokotsas, will provide the
quarterbacks at Paul VI with the knowledge he gained from four seasons at
Bridgewater-Raritan HS in New Jersey, two years at Wesley College in Dover,
Delaware, two seasons with Hudson Valley CC in New York, and two seasons with
the Long Branch Stallions minor league team in New Jersey. In addition, Theo
has assisted his father at St. John Vianney HS and Morris Catholic HS where
together they brought four teams to three playoff appearances in four years.
Theo has an AA degree in Physical Fitness Education and is currently the
Documentation Lead and Senior Technical Writer for ASM Research, Inc in
Fairfax, Va.
JUNIOR VARSITY
Mike Grandizio - This is Coach Grandizio’s eigth year coaching high
school football and his fourth year at Paul VI. He was the Head Freshmen
Coach for PVI the last three years. In 2006 he was the Head Coach of the
Oakton High School Freshman team. Coach Grandizio is from Allentown, PA, and
was in the Air Force from 2000-2002. Michael will serve this year’s program
as an assistant offensive and defensive line coach for the varsity and JV
squads. Coach “G” has served as the strength and conditioning coach for all
athletic teams here at PVI where he spends every afternoon designing and
coaching individual programs for male and female athletes. He currently works
as a personal fitness trainer.
Rich Taylor - Coach Taylor has thirty years of coaching experience. He
has coached football at Bishop McNamara, football and baseball(first Varsity
Head Coach)at Paul VI and Lacrosse at Robinson High school (Staet Champs 2006-
2007). Coach Taylor was a three sport letterman in football, baseball and
track at Rock Hill Academy. He played baseball for the University of Richmond
and Football while in the U.S. Navy. Rich has taught Social Studies at Paul
VI for twenty-eight years. He and his wife Carol have a son, Drew.
FRESHMAN
Tom Healy - Coach Healy is in his first year as our Head Coach for
Freshman football. He has also been Paul VI’s Head Wrestling Coach for six
years. Last year, Coach Healy led the wrestling team to a second place finish
in the WCAC and a 3rd place finish in the Virginia State tournament. He
played football and wrestled for Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville,
Maryland. Coach Healy played defensive guard, middle guard and linebacker
while at Peary. He currently teaches in the Math Department at PVI. Prior to
his teaching career, he was a Partner at Accenture (formerly Andersen
Consulting) where he worked for 24 years. Coach Healy lives in Vienna with
his wife Vicki. Along with their son Kevin, they have two daughters, Claire
and Brenna.
Mike Eastman - This is Coach Eastman’s fourth year at Paul VI. He is
from Jefferson Township, N.J. He played defensive and offensive line on a
state finalist team and was named first team all conference and first team
all-area his senior year. Mike will coach the offensive and defensive line
for the freshman and will teach long snapping techniques to all three levels
of the program. Mike currently attends George Mason University and also
coaches wrestling at Paul VI.
Kevin Healy - This is Kevin’s second year coaching at PVI. Kevin, Coach
Tom Healy's son, will coach the freshmen quarterbacks, receivers and
defensive backs. Kevin played five years of football in the Vienna Youth
Football League. He was a three year football letterman at Madison High
School here in Fairfax County where he went 2nd Team All District as a
Quarterback in 2006. He also started at safety and wide receiver during his
tenure at Madison. After high school, Kevin was a quarterback for George
Mason University’s Club Football Team in 2007. Currently, Kevin is attending
GMU and is majoring in Physical Education.
Dan Cinalli - Coach Cinalli is returning to his former stomping ground
to coach freshmen running backs and linebackers. Dan attended Paul VI from
2000-2004, playing football (fullback and linebacker) and baseball all four
years and lettering in both sports three years. After PVI, he hung up his
cleats and attended George Mason from 2004 - 2008 where he majord in English
with a concentration in professional writing. After graduating in 2008 Coach
Cinalli worked for two years with CSC as a technical and proposal writer. He
left CSC to take a long term substitute position at Paul VI, and is coming
back to teach sophomore and junior English next year.
