Where do I find the Secondary School Report?
The Secondary School Report can be in several places. Usually it is at the
end of your college application and will be called "Secondary School Report"
or "To be completed by Counselor or Principal". Sometimes the page(s) are
at another location on the website and you need to download it separately.
How do I change a course?
The deadline for a course change has long passed. However, students who are
recommended by their teacher for a level change can apply for it. You need
to complete a "Course Change Form" found either on the Guidance Website,
under "download forms" or pick-up a form on the small table just outside the
Guidance Suite. Make sure you have parts 1 and 2 completed before you come
and see me for a signature. I will not sign a blank form!
Can I still turn in a transcript request?
YES! We will continue to accept transcript requests for the remainder of
the school year. Remember to attach the proper fee!
What is a transcript request form?
A transcript form is your letter of instruction to us. It tells us who to
sen the transcript to, which letter of recommendation you wish to be
attached, any deadlines we need to meet, and if you wish your semester
grades to be sent.
Where can I obtain the transcript request form?
The form is available both online and on the table outside the Guidance
Suite. To access it online, go to the PVI website, click on Guidance, click
on download forms, and click on Transcript Request From.
How do I register for the SAT?
There are two methods - paper or online. The registration form is available
on the bookshelf outside the door to the Guidance suite. You can register
online by going to the collegeboard.com and following their directions.
Can I take the SAT at PVI?
YES. As of this year PVI is an official test site and can offer the SAT
Reasoning and SAT Subject tests. Check the College Board website for
details.
How do I get permission to use accommodations on a College Board Exam?
College Board has to approve all accommodations. There is a form and a
process you must follow. Please contact Mrs. Ratliff in Guidance. She is
our SSD Coordinator for College Board and for the ACT exam.
How many letters of recommendation do I need for colleges?
This varies from college to college. As a service to you, Guidance will
keep 2 letters from PVI teachers on file for you. We will send them in with
your transcripts.
How many colleges should I apply to?
We recommend between 5 and 7 colleges. If you have done your research this
shouldn't be a problem.
How can I get an appointment with my Counselor
There are several methods. You may come by Guidance and see if your
Counselor is available, you may use the Appointment Request Form located on
the table outside of the Guidance Suite, you may call or e-mail your
Counselor for an appointment. We try to make ourselves available to our
students and their families.
