About The Teacher

I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a communications degree in
advertising and public relations. My father was in the military and later
worked for the airlines, so I spent a good deal of my adolescence moving
around. I graduated from high school in Wyoming and went on to college there
as well, my parents still live there so I now consider it to be where I
am "from". Literature is one of my great passions; I have always loved to
read and enjoy everything from contemporary works to classics. Some of my
favorite writers include F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens,
Edgar Allan Poe, C.S. Lewis and more recently, J.K. Rowling. Although I have
many pieces of literature that I love, my favorite book is Haper Lee's To
Kill a Mockingbird. I feel that teaching is such a gift because not only are
you teaching something new everyday, but you are also learning something new
everyday.

Mission For The Class

To provide a clear understanding and appreciation for American literature.
There are a lot of wonderful writers from our country and we will take a
journey with just a few of them this semester; hopefully you will continue to
experience these and other great works of literature on your own. We will
work together to strengthen your writing skills - a talent that so many need
but not enough posses. The ability to write well will help you succeed in
high school and beyond. A larger and more profound vocabulary is also a
mission this semester - having a high vocabulary opens doors that you didn't
even know existed - trust me.
