Ms. R. Mae Trimble holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education
from Nazareth College, Rochester NY. She also holds two Master of Music
degrees, both from The University of North Carolina-Greensboro, NC; one is in
Choral Conducting and the other is in Music Theory. Ms. Trimble is
currently in her seventh year as Choral Director and Music Teacher at Paul
VI. She has previously taught in the public schools of New York and North
Carolina. She has been very active in church work as both organist and
choir director for more than two decades, and currently serves as organist at
Washington Farm United Methodist Church in Alexandria, VA. She has
maintained a private piano studio for several decades.
Ms. Trimble is a member of Music Educators National Conference and
Virginia Music Educators Association. She was the recipient of the Henry
Weill Fellowship in 2003-4 and was nominated for Instructor of the year at
UNC-G in 2004. She served as AP Music Theory Reader in 2008 and has served as
adjudicator for numerous choral events. She composed incidental music for
The Tempest (Shakespeare) that was performed by the Nazareth College Theater
Company in 1994; this music won the Kennedy Center American College Theater
Arts Meritorious Award. She has composed other works that have been
performed by colleges and community ensembles.
In her spare time Ms. Trimble sings in a bluegrass band called Taste of
Bluegrass; this band performs in various venues in the area. She also enjoys
contra dance, Zydeco and Cajun dance and has recently taken up flat footing.
She enjoys reading, attending classical concerts and walking her little
cockapoo. She has four grown children who live in NC.
